I am going to tell you a little story about Ayran.
Ayran is a traditional Turkish drink and was consumed by nomadic Turks prior to 1000 CE. Some think Ayran was first developed thousands of years ago by the Göktürks, who would dilute bitter yogurt with water in an attempt to improve its flavor.
Some believe the story of Nasreddin Hodja. Hodja was one of the most important philosopher in Turkey. He liked yogurt so much that he had a story about it: When they saw Hodja sitting by the lake and stirring some yogurt into the water they asked him what he was doing. “I am adding starter into the lake to make yogurt,” he answered. “But is it possible to turn the lake into yogurt?” “I know it is impossible but what if I succeed,” Hodja replied.
Hodja aimed: To turn the lake into yogurt and share it with the world citizens because he liked it very much, to make people think NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE as long as they want.
If you ever tasted Ayran you will never forget the taste. Some will love it some will hate it. Just like Hodja I love Yogurt that’s why I love Ayran, I would love it if everyone tried it once. I came across fresh stirred Ayran and I was blown away. Ayran is a must taste and especially with a nice piece of pide (Turkish pizza).
The best thing about Ayran is that it contains almost no calories. It is also very easy to make.
Salt and a cup and a spoon or hand mixer
to stir the yogurt through the water.
Stick around, discover and enjoy!
